Prayer for Our Nation

Dear Heavenly Father,
Behold Thy humble servants.
We pray, oh God, that You will strengthen and guide us
in these perilous times, to stand together as a nation
against those who would oppress, mislead and dismiss Your Holy Word.
Thou art the living God of all mankind.
Lead us not into temptation by the arrogance of those in power,
but lead us inside our own selves where
You have promised to meet each and every one of us.
Bring to us the remembrance of freedom, respect and dignity
that come only to those who are willing to believe
in a nation that is governed by its people.
We ask, dear Lord, for peace and deliverance from uncertainty and fear
even in the face of war, terror and the struggle for power between nations.
At times, the very earth seems to tremble from the waywardness of man.
Help us to resist the false posture of apologies and, instead,
acknowledge the humbling power of repentance.
How blessed we are that Thou art a God of endless pardons.
Finally, dear Lord, use us this day to further Your will in the earth,
that America may continue to be a light unto the world,
made in Your image, as it was in the beginning.
